Awareness of Nature Around Us
Value and Care for Our Common Home
Pope Francis: “From the hands of God we have received a garden, we cannot leave a desert to our children”
If we are to work towards healing the natural world, upon which our very existence depends, we have to start by appreciating nature around us. Only when we consciously value it, will we be moved to care for our common home and ensure all earth’s gifts are justly shared.
Living where we do, it is easy to make contact with nature. Our towns and villages are surrounded by beautiful countryside, many of us have gardens, and our churches each have some space in which to grow things, at least in pots or small beds. When we leave our homes, let's make a point of taking some "time to stand and stare".
If you would like to take photos of some of the lovely things you see in the local environment, we could make a gallery page to share them on this blog. You can also use the “Comments” box at the end of the post to recommend to others things to see and do in Nature Around Us.
